El Ron del Artesano Ruby Port Cask Finish 8yo

Artesano Ruby Port Cask Finish - where your journey begins.
The Artesano 8yo Ruby Cask Finish is part of our core range. It is fully matured for 8 years, as we don’t do any soleras.
The first 7 years it has been aged in ex-Bourbon barrels, after this time it had an aditional ageing in a ruby port cask from Portugal.
There is no sugar added and we keep an eye on emptying the barrels well before ading the rum, so the sugar level is below 5g/Ltr.

The nose of the Artesano Ruby casks starts with wonderful fruity aromas which will remind you of cherries and dried plums.
After a while in your glass and with some air there are hints of vanilla and some dried orangepeel.

On your palate the Ruby cask starts gently, you could say even soft and silky. The aroma of cherries and vanilla is still present while there are new aromas to apear like cream candy and cherry cake.
Just at the finish you realize that you are drinking rum and the alcohol shows up for a moment, but it is well integrated and stays gently on your tongue.

El Ron del Artesano
Tawny Port-Cask-Finish 9yo

The Artesano Tawny Port Cask Finish is the second expression of our core range.
It has been aged for a bit longer then 7.5 years in ex-Bourbon barrels before being transfered into freshly emptied ex-Tawny Port casks from Portugal. Despite the ruby casks, the tawny port is an oxidative port and shows more hints of nuts and a complete different aroma profile.
Its smell reminds you of honey melon, walnut-chocolate and some fresh orange juice. It seems to wait for you with a smooth and easy charakter. On the palate it shows some more power then the ruby cask, as it is a little bit more then one year older and has some more power from the barrel.
But the aroma of milk-chocolate gives it such a creamyness that the wood is well integrated and gives it more length then the ruby might show you.

El Ron del Artesano
Virgin Oak Cask

The strongest of our core range expressions is the Virgin Oak Cask.
This bottling is at least 10 years old, of which it stayed 8 years in an ex-Bourbon barrel before its final maturation for 2 more years in a virgin american oak cask, which never held any spirits before. Therefore it gives the Artesano Virgin Oak Cask a really powerful structure and even reminds sometimes of an old bourbon.
There are hints of maple syrup and honey, combined with fresh cut oak wood and even some grapefruit can be found.
It is playing a lot with your tongue and nose, changeing with every sip from strong woody aromas to sweet and gentle hints like honey.

Single Casks - Cask Strength

Apart from our core range we also bottle single cask expressions.
Each cask for this selection is handpicked and we are only bottling the best casks we can find in our warehouse, worth being bottled as a single expression.
Those bottlings are always limited, as by the nature of a single cask, only a certain number of bottles can me made out of it.
We are ageing our rums also in small amounts in different wine casks, like Amarone, Pinot Noir, Moscatel and a range of sweetwine casks. Sometimes we even use ex-peated-whisky casks to release a special style of Artesano.
There are a lot of different bottlings already sold and we are proud about the casks we are going to release.

El Ron del Artesano
21 años +

If you see one of these special bottles you are holding a real small batch in your hands.
Once a year we release a single cask expression with over 21 years of ageing, and it is still no solera, so you can expect a lot of power coming into your glass.
Sometimes we give those casks a short time for being finished in a special cask or we just bottle them directly out of the original ex-bourbon cask, but this decision always depends on the result given by the cask and the ageing.
Don’t expect just a smooth and gentle rum, as after more then 21 years ageing and contact with wood it also shows a lot of woody flavours and character, but is still one of our most powerful expressions.
